The future of video games was once fueled by the minds of developers and the creativity of the whole team. In the last few years there has been a shift in creativity and patience being overrun by the desire for the most profit with the least amount of work. In this read, I will discuss what caused this and what the foreseeable consequences are.

The first reason why the future of video games is heading where it is would be Virtual Reality (VR). This is an immersive and interactive form of entertainment, with gaming in mind specifically, that involves the user putting on a headset and using controllers in each hand to interact with the world shown through the screen, the screen being directly in front of your eyes. Also, the reason why this is considered a downside to gaming is the price tag placed on the VR headsets, with prices ranging from $250 to upwards of $1000. Gaming’s’ Future

Furthermore, the future of gaming is taking is the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). “Artificial intelligence (AI) is technology that enables computers and machines to simulate human learning, comprehension, problem solving, decision making, creativity and autonomy,” (Definition given by International Business Mechanics Corporation). AI has sprung up in recent years as a tool to be used to aid humans. Check this out to learn more about AI. However, the advancements that is has made in all aspects of life are staggering. From making complete movies to coding entire games, there is a clear lack of creativity and care. Not only has the use of AI become the reason for multiple game companies to let go its’ staff, but it also lacks the soul that has been put into games by humans.
